Wheel and Tire Installation in Vernon Hills
Whether a tire clears the fender at full lock and under full compression comes down to four numbers: diameter, width, offset, and backspacing. We work those out against your own vehicle rather than a general fitment chart, so the set that arrives is the set that fits.
Covers wheels, tires, wheel and tire packages, mounting, balancing, and TPMS.
What the job includes
All of it is part of the work.
- Fitment
- Bolt pattern, hub bore, offset, backspacing, and load rating, checked against your year, trim, and current suspension. If a size would need trimming to work, we say so.
- Mounting and balancing
- Tires mounted and balanced on the wheel you picked. Larger and heavier off-road tires get more attention here, because that is where a vibration at highway speed comes from.
- TPMS
- Sensors moved over, or new sensors installed and programmed to the vehicle so the dash light goes out and stays out.
- Torque and re-torque
- Lugs torqued to spec on the lift, and a re-torque at 50 miles. New wheels seat as they are driven and lug torque drops.
What we specify
Every one of these is decided against your vehicle rather than off a chart.
- The wheel and the tire, which is the decision the rest of it follows from.
- What the vehicle carries and tows, which sets the load rating the tire has to meet.
- Whether your TPMS sensors carry over or are better replaced.
- Whether the size you are after needs a spacer, or any trimming, to sit right.
- The balance, which takes more care on a large off-road tire than a factory one.
- Whether the spare is matched to the set.
What we'll ask you
Usually enough for us to price it on the first call.
- The year, model, and trim.
- What it is on now.
- Anything already done to the suspension.
- A wheel you have your eye on, if there is one.
- How it gets driven.

Wheels & Tires questions we get
- Will these wheels fit?
- Bolt pattern is the first check and the easiest one to pass. Offset, backspacing, and hub bore are what actually decide it. Tell us the wheel and the vehicle and we will confirm the fit.
- Do bigger tires need anything else done?
- Sometimes. Past a certain size you want clearance, and often gearing, so the vehicle still drives the way it should. We tell you which of those apply to yours rather than quoting the tires on their own.
- How long does a wheel and tire install take?
- A straightforward set of four is usually a same-day job. Call ahead and we will find you a slot.
