Wrangler TJ, JK, and JL

Jeep Wrangler Lifts, Wheels, and Armor

The Wrangler is the vehicle we build most, and the one where tire size decides everything else. Lift height, wheel offset, gearing, and the spare carrier all follow from the tire you pick. We start there and work outward.

Covers TJ, JK, and JL, including Rubicon and 392.

Setups people go with

Setups we build on this platform. Tell us which one you are after and we will price it with the labor.

Leveling or 2in lift on 33s
The mildest useful change on a JL. Keeps the factory spare carrier and usually keeps the factory gearing.
2.5in lift on 35s
The most common Wrangler setup we quote. Needs a look at brake lines, bump stops, and the spare.
3.5in long arm on 37s
What the bronze 392 in our gallery runs. Long arm geometry, adjustable track bar, extended brake lines, and a taller bump stop.

What affects fitment

Year, make, and model on their own do not settle whether a part fits. These are the things that change the answer.

  • Generation and bolt pattern. TJ is 5x4.5in; JK and JL are 5x5in.
  • Trim. A Rubicon leaves the factory on 33s with different gearing than a Sport.
  • Wheel offset and backspacing, which decide whether a 35 rubs at full lock.
  • Axle gearing. Tall tires change your effective ratio and how the Jeep drives.
  • The factory spare carrier, which does not take every tire size.
  • Brake line length, bump stop height, and track bar geometry after a lift.
  • TPMS sensors and any steering or ADAS calibration the vehicle expects.

A manufacturer's fitment list gets us close. We check it against your actual vehicle, including the trim and anything already changed on it.

What goes with it

Specified alongside the main parts rather than discovered afterward.

  • Extended brake lines once the lift passes the factory line length
  • A bump stop kit, so a 35 or 37 does not find the fender at full compression
  • An adjustable track bar to recenter the axle after a taller lift
  • A re-gear when tire size has pulled the effective ratio too tall
  • A spare tire carrier or relocation bracket for larger spares

Jeep Wrangler questions we get

What tire size fits a Wrangler without trimming?
It depends on generation, trim, wheel offset, and lift height. Send those four and we will tell you what clears and what rubs.
Do I need to re-gear for 37s?
Often, and it depends on your axle ratio and how you drive. We will tell you if yours wants one.
Does a lift need an alignment?
Yes. Any meaningful suspension change gets an alignment or an alignment check, and suspension work gets a re-torque at 500 miles.

Plan a Jeep Wrangler build

Tell us the year, the trim, and the tire size you are after. We check fitment against your vehicle and quote the parts and the labor together.
